Nicky Travels // Annexe 1888, Magland, France
Annexe 1888, a former family home turned guest house is part cooking school, restaurant and design space, situated between Geneva and Chamonix, was discovered by Nicky last week on her travels in between site visits.
The guest house side of the property opens officially for business this September 2017, (you can book here) but the Cafe de Balme on the ground floor is open daily from 9am serving a delicious petit déjuner if you are passing by this summer.
Family dishes for lunch and dinner are also prepared in this beautiful designed La Cornue and Aga kitchen (in the first image above). Book yourself in for cooking lessons, or if you fall so madly for any of the kitchen accessories or appliances, the Café de Balme will assist you in ordering your own customised solution.
Annexe 1888 dates back to…. yes you guessed it, 1888 and has been recently refurbished with an authentic accuracy and modernity. Using a subtle mix of colours and materials, cement tiles, mouldings and architectural detailing are all there to remind you that you’re in a place filled with history.
There are 4 contemporary bedrooms (rates starting at 137€) and a beautiful loft (250€) on the top floor.
With views of the surrounding mountain landscape, the colour palette remains fresh using black, navy, blond woods, white tiling and simple ceramic features.
