Nicky’s London Design Week Diary – September 2017

The moment Paris Design Week is over, London ramps up to host it’s annual London Design Festival. Fashionistas think they have it hard with back to back fashion shows but talk to any interior designer after Septembers events and we’ll talk to you about being busy!

This week London plays host to a series of design events we never fail to miss, despite the autumn months being our busiest of the year on our sites across the Alps. In fact we’re off to Crans Montana this afternoon to oversee a project due for completion this winter season.

We started our LDF weekend off with Decorex International at Syon Park. The show moved from Royal Hospital Chelsea a few years ago, so the drive out to Middlesex keeps you at the fair for the whole day if you don’t keep an eye on the clock.

Above this year’s entrance installation brought the worlds of fashion, floristry, set design and interior design together in one creative and colourful dining experience. The different disciplines created their pop-up dining scape, in a fun and interactive way.

Larry Walshe with Dominic Schuster, Osborne & Little continue their collaboration with fashion designer Matthew Williamson, Eligostudio with AbetLaminati and Beata Heuman collaborated with Fromental.

Every year there is so much to see, and so many people to talk to. Decorex really is an event suited to our style and the brands we work with.

We always discover great new textiles and colour palettes, and beautiful collections of furniture from British brands that otherwise we may not have come across.

During this past week we’ve made sure to visit some of our favourite design boutiques across London. Paul Smith below on Albermarle Street in Mayfair always presents a furniture, homeware and lighting edit amongst their seasonal collections…

We’re huge fans of the Holly Hunt & Christian Liaigre showrooms in Mayfair. Both design houses continue to produce exceptional pieces of design in the most beautiful colour palettes and finishes.

The week isn’t yet over and we still have 100% Design & Designjunction to attend, so keep an eye on our Instagram Stories and Twitter feeds few for our round-up of favourite finds in London this week!
