Nicky visits Decorex 2018 at Syon Park
From Paris Design Week to the London Design Festival, this week Nicky made it to the opening day of Decorex International at Syon Park.
Decorex is a space to take inspiration from, upcoming creatives and well established brands exhibit their products and collections creating new trends and design ideas for decorators and designers across the UK and Europe.
Decorex hosts a series of seminars and talks, here Nicky listened to a conversation between Editor of House and Garden magazine, Hatta Byng with Interior Designer of the Year Beata Heuman.
At the heart of the exhibition, there was a strong display from many of the exhibitors regarding longevity. Commissioning a bespoke piece of furniture or particular finish, which was highlighted by the live interactive displays from so many exhibitors.
Below Pablo Moschino never fails to please with his bold use of prints and patterns
Above Katherine Pooley’s new collection was presented against a beautiful floral backdrop
We’ve followed Bethan Gray’s designs for years, and it was wonderful to see her colourful stand of beautiful homewares and furniture collection. All her tableware pieces are made in the UK in collaboration with pioneering ceramics brand 1882Ltd.
The Shamsian Collection is inspired by Bethan’s family heritage and her extensive travels throughout the middle east.
Above the Guy Goodfellow Collection of fine fabrics and wallpapers. Their showroom in World’s End Chelsea features our much loved Teasel fabrics collection.
At the shows entrance are these clever ‘pod’ platforms (see the animals above). Building upon the considerable successes of its 40th anniversary edition in 2017, the internationally renowned showcase this year explores Blank Canvas as its show theme. Offering a ‘carte blanche’, the concept explores how an empty space can celebrate a new beginning, a chance to create something beautiful in the way that Decorex and its exhibitors do each year. Woulfe designed a rather eye catching platform.
We’re always on the lookout for new stools for our chalet kitchens. Nicky was particularly caught by this collection from Hayche above.
Munna never fail to disappoint on the colourful display front!
Tamasine Osher also presented an eye catching display of beautifully crafted tables and angular chairs.
This year the showcase Bar area was designed by Lambert & Browne, the team behind Loulou’s at 5 Hertford Street, and Bagatelle on Dover Street. Lambart & Browne were briefed to design a space which would provide a fresh direction for Decorex’s new bar, an evolution of the champagne bar featured in previous years, the bar will be offering a selection of botanically infused drinks throughout the show.
“We have designed the bar in a contemporary British style, classic eclectic. With this design we are inviting visitors to take a moment to reflect on the inspiring designs they have seen at Decorex in appropriately comfortable and elegant surroundings.”
Freddy van Zevenbergen Co-founder and Head Designer
