The Invisible Collection / Lady of the Mountain
It’s the first time that we have shared via our blog, Nicky’s recent collaboration and involvement with The Invisible Collection, we just love that they like to call Nicky, the ‘Lady of the Mountain’! To explain in the companies own words…
‘The most esteemed names in French and international interior design and architecture converge on a single website, TheInvisibleCollection.com, this is a place where their work is now available for purchase. Rare and unique furniture pieces that were previously only accessible to design professionals and an elite clientele have been opened up to the world.
Based between Paris, London and New York, The Invisible Collection highlights the world of 21st century talents, the heirs to the golden period of Decorative Arts, initiated by icons of design such as Jean-Michel Frank and Pierre Chareau.’
Selected pieces from Nicky’s first ND Collection have recently been acquired by The Invisible Collection for exclusive sale. These pieces include, The Elbow Hairy Chair, The Elbow Sheepskin Chair, The Shaggy Footstool, and The Moreton Swivel Club chair.
Summed up in her words: “Classic contemporary, timeless, elegant and, above all, comfortable”. Nicky has completed many projects from major cities to rural retreats, for a very international crowd. However, over the years her reputation as an outstanding luxury chalet designer has made her the go to person for discerning clients looking for the best one-of-kind chalet residencies, setting the trend for Alpine Luxury. She has designed and built in all the leading ski resorts including Whistler, Verbier, St Moritz, Gstaad, Crans Montana, Val D’Isère.
‘Her award winning interiors bear a strong sense of place where everything is harmonious and comfortable. Fusing modern lines with traditional vernacular, she introduces contemporary details to timeless effect. Ultimately, her designs have the hallmarks of classic elegance and enduring comfort.’
Most recently Nicky’s Elbow chairs were featured in the Sotheby’s Preferred Member lounge over the most recent London auction fortnight.
This exclusive space underwent a luxurious furniture makeover to celebrate the upcoming modern and contemporary auctions. Following the invitation by Helena Newman, Chairman, Sotheby’s Europe, The Invisible Collection team took over the space, famously renovated by architecture über-star Peter Marino in 2008, and furnished it with some of its iconic pieces.
The Invisible Collection founders personally selected the pieces of furniture and objects on display, imbuing the Preferred Members’ Room with an elegantly curated feel.
Founders Anna Zaoui and Isabelle Dubern, both art and design collectors, found in this collaboration with Sotheby’s the perfect opportunity to express their informed taste by staging a unique setting where art and design can truly meet.
Art lovers and collectors had the opportunity of relaxing between visits to exhibitions and thrilling sales, and enjoying some refreshments while discovering an artfully decorated space. Some will have favoured the surrealistic comfort of the conversation chair by Vincent Darré, other might finally get the opportunity to test the iconic assi(asy)métrie armchair by Pierre Yovanovitch. Some might want to be ready to step into the next auction and favour a Nicky Dobree elbow chair…unless they prefer to just lay back and share a drink with friends while resting on the CSLB Studio’s Odalisque Sofa.
