Design Inspiration > Italian Elite, Meet Designer Paola Navone
Designer Paola Navone is a rare female amongst a male dominated design elite. Designing collections and series for super house brands such as Driade, Knoll, Armani Casa, Alessi, Opinion Ciatti, Baxter, Poliform and Gervasoni. After graduating with a degree in Architecture from the Turin Politecnico in 1973, Navone worked alongside designers such as Alessandro Mendini, Ettore Sottsass Jr and Andrea Branzi in the Alchimia group. As the most progressive set on the Italian design scene Navone was driven by her extreme interest in widely differing cultures. Travelling constantly, Navone switched easily from interior designer to architect, designer, teacher and critic.
I wanted to share a few of my favourite Paola Navone designed pieces for Gervasoni. In charge of the design aesthetic of the brand since the late 1990s, Navone creates simple, practical shapes for indoor and outdoor living. This Gray Series above is perfect for an Alpine terrace don’t you think?
