May Book of the Month // Clay by Amber Creswell Bell

This week in London marks the beginning of London Craft Week 2017, From the 3-7th May this annual event showcases exceptional craftsmanship from unknown artists and famous galleries. We were inspired by this exciting festival to share our May Book of the Month focusing on craftsmanship.

Clay was written by Amber Creswell Bell and published by Thames & Hudson in February 2017. Capturing the feel of a ceramicist’s studio with new appreciation for the beautiful, functional and accessible. It’s recent steady surge of interest and popularity hasn’t been seen since the 1970s. A return to the handmade can be no coincidence in our digital world, with more desire for unique objects made by hand. Pottery captures this authenticity in ways no other medium can.

The book shares the rich creative output of fifty of the top studio potters from around the world. A celebration of a new generation of artisans working in clay, sharing snapshots of not what is necessarily happening at the elite gallery level but rather a behind-the-scenes look at unique and eclectic offerings.
