We recently picked up on an article by CN Traveller mentioning Les Gets as a destination to enjoy travelling to by train. We couldn’t agree more. Nicky’s alpine home in Les Gets, Ferme de Moudon was completed in 2004 and remains timeless to this day.
Ancient timbers blend effortlessly with the likes of Christian Liaigre, Kohler, Poliform and Andrew Martin, old sitting with new in this very private home which you are able to exclusively hire for your family or friends. With room for twelve, super family friendly, tucked away in its own grounds, and only three minutes’ from the centre of Les Gets, we wanted to share with you how to get there and some of Nicky’s favourite places in the area.
Once arriving in Paris by Eurostar from London, you could perhaps spend the night exploring the city before hopping on a TGV to Bellegarde (less than 3hrs). From there you take a local train to Cluses (around 1hr 45) for the final stretch.
From there our driver will collect you for the 30 minute ride to our secret hideaway. All your ski equipment can be rented locally and delivered to our boot room along with your ski passes, you won’t have to lift a finger on arrival!
Ferme de Moudon is blessed with exceptional and uninterrupted views, with south-facing windows, an architectural masterpiece at the time of the build, gaze out across the valley at the gorgeous mountain peaks and majestic trees.
Sporting a sauna, massage room outdoor hot tub and new plunge pool, it also features two large living areas, one with a giant plasma tv and digital satellite channels. The impressive kitchen is open-plan and you can watch the chef prepare his masterpieces with a drink before dinner. There is also a study with telephone, wifi throughout, and conference facilities for those who can’t be pulled away from their work.
When you are ready to head out and explore the area, here are Nicky’s favourite places to go with her family.
Chez Nanon – The perfect setting for a relaxed lunch. Piste des Raverette, 74110 Morzine
La Paika – An authentic on piste restaurant drenched in sunlight. Fabulous outdoor rotisserie & BBQ. Piste des Vorosses – La Turche, 74260 Les Gets
La fruitiere des Perrieres- Fabulous Fromagerie and basement restaurant. Fondue heaven! 137 Route des Perrières, 74260 Les Gets
Here’s what CN Traveller have to say…
No wonder people love Les Gets. The village has a friendly, familial feel and yet the ski area it accesses, the 600km Portes du Soleil, is vast. Despite so much terrain on the doorstep, there’s a very relaxed ethos to the resort. That is partly fuelled by the many quality foodie spots keeping skiers from clipping their skis back on. La Grande Ourse, a mountain restaurant on Mont Chery, has fairy-tale views over Mont Blanc. Down in the village, La Fruitière des Perrières is in former cheese-ripening caves more than 100 years old, and knocks out an inspiring mushroom fondue. Nearby, a new Prohibition-era speakeasy restaurant, Les Durs à Cuire, has a menu that reads like a newspaper, and a tantalising seven-hour-cooked lamb.
